Merlin

I’m finally watching Merlin, which was Katie’s first major role and originally aired from 2008-2012 and is available on Netflix. I actually meant to watch it last summer but stopped a few episodes in because a friend in another state was going to watch it with me but they never started it. I haven’t finished the series yet but feel I’m getting to the good part as far as Katie’s role goes. If you've not already seen it I recommend it for a summer binge watch.

Katie plays Lady Morgana and to spite the fact that she’d only been acting for a year or so her natural ability is evident but in need of experience and polish. Without spoiling too much you can defiantly see shades of Morgana in Lena’s sly smile and the look in her eyes that makes you wonder whose side she’s really on. She makes you believe a double or triple cross is always possible. Like Lena, Morgana can look someone right in the eyes and tell them she loves them only to curse them once behind closed doors. In a few ways Merlin is like Kara in the fact that his default is to see the good in people and he will stubbornly not give up on his friends plus of course the fact that he has a big secret he hides. While I hope Kara and Lena’s story doesn’t end up like I think Merlin and Morgana’s will watching Katie’s early performance is only making me more excited for the “fight or Lena’s soul” we’ve been promised.
